Time is of the essence.
And when a layer of thought constituting one’s approach on time swifts or fades, a different aspect of the occurrence reveals itself.
In photography, the exposure and its duration are dependent on the velocity of the happening, on its “spreading” throughout its time. Yet that is a thing which is dependent on the same thing.
The photographs in this series were exhibited in Motion pictures exhibition at ZOA House Tel Aviv, Herenow exhibition at Jerusalem theatre and in Colorida Art Gallery Lisboa.

Inanimate in Hebrew means Domem, deriving from the noun Dmama - in silent, without an apparent sound or movement.

ישנן פעולות בעלות גוון טבעי ומחזורי. מתמשכות, ארוכות מועד עד להתייחסות נבונה, ממוקמות ברקע הזמן אך במרכז התוחלת.
כדי לתת להן את המקום הראוי נדרש לרוב כיול. התכווננות או חוסר התכווננות. אילולא כן, העיקר נותר בשוליים. אך מה הטעם במובן מאליו?

In the desert. The night sky appears clear and majestic. Stars twinkle in cool blazing. The sand’s sigh is carried in the wind. At the meridian, rest is a must. Movements become pace.
The photographs in this series were taken using various (medium format) films. Each film has a designated compensation for long exposures, true for a certain range – long enough to maintain the darkness of the night, though not as long as to show the daily motion of the stars, or its background dye in purplish hue.
The brighter ones were taken while an error occurred in my camera: a very narrow crack, at the side of the film’s compartment, enabled some light to get in. It caused the photograph’s respective side to seem burned and glittered with aura, amounting for how little light managed to come through.

התמונות בסדרה זו צולמו בפילם פורמט בינוני מסוגים שונים. לכל פילם ישנו פיצוי ייעודי עבור חשיפות ארוכות הנעות בטווח מסויים – ממשוכות מספיק בשביל לשמור על חשכת הלילה בתמונה, ולא ארוכת עד כדי כך שתתגלה התנועה היומית של כוכבי השבת, או שהרקיע ייצבע בצבע סגלגל.
התמונות הבהירות יותר צולמו בזמן שהייתה לי תקלה במצלמה (Pentax 645s): סדק קל בתחתית תיבת הפילם, שאיפשר לאור לחדור פנימה. החרך גרם לצד הזהה בתמונה להופיע שרוף, ובהיר בהילה, סכום מעט הקרניים שהצליחו להסתנן בעדו.

A man stood in the center of an unknown village. A large group of people gathered around him in a semicircle and listened to what he was saying. Narrow stone streets led to the center of the village from all directions: a vast square, made from natural ununiformed stones. While the man spoke, he went back and forth: from the crowd’s front to the diameter, towards a stone pillar, erecting up to his waist height. At the pillar’s end, laid attached a smoothed and plain stone surface. Besides it: a pile of parchment papers. Every time, the man drew a single parchment from the pile, arranged it on the smoothed stone surface, gripped a brush (which laid upon it) and dipped the tip of the hairs in an inkwell with a slow shaking motion. After that he started to paint on the parchment. The painting was a word: a symbol embodied with meaning. When he finished, he turned the painted parchment to the crowd, and asked: “what is it?” – “what is this word?” – “what does it mean?”
אדם אחד עמד במרכז היישוב. מסביבו התכנס קהל אנשים בחצי גורן והאזין לדבריו. רחובות אבן צרים הובילו מכל כיוון ביישוב אל המרכז. כיכר רחבת ידיים עשויה מרצפות אבן טבעיות ולא אחידות. תוך שהוא נשא את דבריו, צעד האיש הלוך ושוב מקדמת הקהל אל הקוטר, אל עבר מעמד אבן מוגבה בגובה מותניו, שבקצהו משטח אבן מוחלק וישר ולצידו ערימת ניירות קלף. בכל פעם האיש שלף אחד מקלפי הנייר שבערימה, סידר אותו על גבי המשטח המוגבה, תפס במכחול (שנח על צד המשטח), טבל את קצות השיער בכסת דיו בתנועת ניעור קלה, והחל לצייר על הקלף. הציור היה מילה: סמל ומשמעות. לכשסיים, הוא התקדם אל הקהל, הפנה לעברו את הקלף ושאל: "מה זה?" – מהי המילה הזו?" – "מה משמעותה?".
